Jia Guangjian, also known by his courtesy name Dahai, was born in the early spring of the Year of the Ox in Yongqing, Yanzhao. He is a fellow of the Chinese Artists Association, a master at the National Academy of Painting, and holds the title of first-class painter. In the Year of the Rooster, Jia Guangjian attended Hebei Arts and Crafts School, now Hebei Vocational College of Arts and Crafts, where he studied decorative design, thus beginning his journey in painting.

Guangjian often says, "Our school's curriculum is broad and profound, covering sketching, quick sketching, color theory, fine brushwork figures, freehand figures, fine brushwork flowers and birds, landscapes, and calligraphy. It encompasses both Chinese and Western painting techniques. Systematic learning not only solidifies the foundation of painting skills but also broadens one's horizons."

Jia Guangjian says, "For an artist, whether young, mature, or in old age, the key to success and the most valuable trait lies in the vitality of their thoughts."

Art is a way of self-expression. Each painter harbors their own aspirations, and their styles are unique, just as each person's spirit manifests differently. Thus, artistic expression is determined by the artist's inner essence, which must be nurtured by both traditional and modern cultures and life insights. Jia Guangjian roots himself in deep traditions, blending the ancient and the contemporary, appreciating both Eastern and Western influences, seeking the hidden, and aspiring to reach artistic excellence. Through this approach, Guangjian maintains the vitality of artistic creation and the strength of his heart. His works clearly display a diverse and colorful spiritual world. The essence of Chinese and Western art differs greatly; thus, when drawing from Western essence, it is important to return to the Chinese foundation. Learning from the ancients to create the new, following one's heart to achieve truth, and learning from nature to achieve a divine connection, transforming the old into the new, and reshaping one's image. This requires perseverance and patience, finding joy in the creative process, immersing oneself in painting, rather than laboring for novelty.

Jia Guangjian's art is extraordinary, his works exude a subtle elegance with profound implications. They are filled with natural vitality and poetic charm, presenting pure and unique interest, standing out in the world. The realm of his works lies between reality and imagination, linking painting and life, embodying a dual artistic wonder. Observing his works, one sees life and beauty intertwining like shadows, with the light of humanity shining brightly. The truth of nature, the changes of the seasons, the passage of time and space, all serve as sources of inspiration. He remains true to his pursuit and unwavering in his resolve. When asked about his creative thoughts, Jia says: Life and nature are what he loves the most. Without a sense of nature, where would inspiration and impulse come from? The blooming and withering of flowers are all significant events, reflecting the artist's attitude.

Jia Guangjian's boneless painting style is beloved by all. He integrates the spirit of the times and aesthetic interest, offering unique insights on the challenge artists face in balancing tradition and innovation. Jia says: Inheriting tradition is not conservatism; it is about seeking the aesthetic core of Chinese painting, understanding what cannot be changed in Chinese art. Then, by adhering to this core and changing the form to adapt to the times without losing the essence. Jia Guangjian's paintings are all pure and serene. The objects in his paintings are often grand scenes, creating a sense of tranquility. His choice of subjects is precise, with his lotus series being especially serene, exuding an elegant and noble charm. Hence, he says: "Purity" is the pervasive essence in Jia's paintings, representing a highly esteemed realm. This is the "purity."

Guangjian often tells his students: "Chinese painting is the art of freehand expression. Observing nature is not about mere depiction but about seeking a spiritual connection with all things. The flowers and plants of nature all have emotions. If one observes nature without feeling and without spiritual communication, their work will lose its soul." He also says: "Memory, observation, selection, and imagination are essential for a Chinese artist. Artistic creation must draw nourishment from the ancients and nature; only then will the work have roots."

The path of art, in exploring the depths of Chinese culture, the more thoroughly understood, the more its value shines. Jia Guangjian, a seeker in the field of painting, believes that higher art education should be rooted in China, based on cultural heritage, inheriting the Chinese spirit, bearing the cultural responsibility, and showcasing great utility. The cultivation of talent is a long-term plan. During the period of knowledge accumulation, one must not rush; it must be gradual, drawing nourishment from traditional essence, integrating strengths from different disciplines, and stimulating the momentum of collision, to solidify the foundation and enrich the quality. Truly, as the roots grow deeper, the leaves become more luxuriant; as the foundation becomes stronger, the branches flourish.
