【习语注释】

该习语中的come其实是beocme的缩略，其含义与“干净”无关，主要用来喻指“to make a full disclosure; to confess”，即“进行充分披露；坦白”，相当于汉语里的“说出真相；全盘托出；和盘托出；坦白真相；实话实说；供出事实；讲明真相”。

该习语大约在十九世纪晚期二十世纪早期源自美国，最早的书面使用记录出现在1904年8月的《the Moberly Evening Democrat》报纸的一篇报道中：
