马海方生于丙申，长于京华。自幼即好丹青，少时随卢沉、姚有多、刘渤舒诸名师，承教于严谨，涵泳于深造。庚申岁，出中央美术学院，授艺有年，画学功底牢固。其后入职人民美术书局，尝涉编辑、设计，广采博览，旁通花鸟山水，亦作连环图绘。终以京师风俗人物为题，研习沉浸，愈见精妙。
海方之画，得没骨之妙，以适度勾勒人物，形神兼备。设色巧拙，映之光辉，笔墨淋漓，意态纷呈。其法源自传统，兼融西技，笔简而意深，含蓄蕴藉，自成一格。现为中国美协会员、荣宝斋画院教授，亦任北京文史馆员、国韵文华书画院艺委会副主席。其画作多描古都风韵，烟火人情，笔下风物，咸得生动真趣。海方所至，莫不以手中之笔，传承古韵，写意京华，使人观而忘俗，神游其境。

马海方1990年他获得了首届中国风俗大赛金奖、世界华人美术大展银奖、第八届全国美展优秀作品奖等荣誉，入选第八届、第九届、第十届全国美展。他的个人画集由人民美术出版社、文物出版社、北京工艺美术出版社、大百科全书出版社、香港心源出版社、福建美术出版社、河北美术出版社等出版。他的作品多次在国内外举办大型个人展览，深受海内外艺术机构及其他各界人士赞誉，并被多家美术机构收藏。
Ma Haifang, born in the Year of the Monkey, grew up in the ancient city of Beijing. From a young age, he had a passion for painting and studied under renowned masters such as Lu Chen, Yao Youduo, and Liu Boshu, receiving rigorous training and deepening his artistic understanding. In the Year of the Monkey, he graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, where he honed his skills and solidified his foundation in painting. Later, he joined the People's Fine Arts Publishing House, engaging in editing and design, exploring a wide range of artistic forms including bird-and-flower paintings and landscapes, as well as creating comic illustrations. Ultimately, he focused on depicting the customs and characters of old Beijing, delving deeply into this theme and achieving greater mastery.
Ma Haifang's paintings capture the essence of the mogu (boneless) technique, using delicate strokes to depict figures with both form and spirit. His colors, vibrant yet subtle, bring his compositions to life with fluid brushwork and rich textures. Rooted in traditional methods but blended with Western techniques, his style is characterized by simplicity and depth, full of implied meanings and subtle charm. Currently, he is a member of the China Artists Association, a professor at the Rongbaozhai Painting Academy, and a curator at the Beijing Institute of Culture and History, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Art Committee of the Guoyun Wenhua Painting Academy. His works often portray the charm and human touch of the old capital, depicting scenes full of life and authenticity. Wherever Ma Haifang's brush reaches, he captures the ancient rhythm and spirit of Beijing, inviting viewers to immerse themselves and forget the mundane, as if transported to another time and place.

Achievements of Ma Haifang
In 1990, Ma Haifang was awarded the Gold Prize at the First Chinese Folk Custom Competition, the Silver Prize at the World Chinese Art Exhibition, and the Outstanding Work Award at the Eighth National Art Exhibition. His works were selected for the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth National Art Exhibitions. His personal art collections have been published by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House, the Cultural Relics Publishing House, the Beijing Arts and Crafts Publishing House, the Encyclopedia of China Publishing House, Hong Kong's Xinyuan Publishing House, the Fujian Fine Arts Publishing House, and the Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House. His works have been exhibited multiple times in large-scale solo exhibitions both domestically and internationally, earning high praise from art institutions and individuals from various sectors around the world. His works have also been collected by numerous art institutions.
