Cover illustration:Similar to Darwin’s finches, the phyllostomid bats, which belong to the family Phyllostomidae, are aic example of adaptive radiation, with an exceptionally broad range of food sources including insects, blood, fruits, nectar, and even vertebrates. Yue et al. (843-857) provide genomic and functional evidence that divergent selection of genes related to taste, digestion, absorption, and metabolism played a crucial role in driving the extensive dietary diversification within the bat clade.
