On 6th February, China and Brunei released a joint statement aimed at strengthening their strategic partnership and fostering the construction of a shared community. The statement highlighted Brunei’s appreciation for China’s unilateral visa-free policy, which allows Brunei citizens with ordinary passports to stay in China for up to 30 days.

In turn, China expressed its approval of Brunei’s decision to offer 14 days of visa-free entry to Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports. Both nations believe these visa-free arrangements will significantly boost personnel exchanges across various sectors, including tourism, culture, business, education, transportation, health, sports, infrastructure, and friendly city initiatives. Brunei is particularly keen to welcome more Chinese tourists, as this will enhance mutual understanding and cultural connections between the two countries.

作为回应，中国对文莱给予中国普通护照持有者14天免签入境的决定表示支持。两国均认为，这些免签安排将极大地促进双方在旅游、文化、商业、教育、交通、卫生、体育、基础设施以及友好城市等各领域的人员交流。文莱尤其期待迎来更多中国游客，这将进一步增进两国之间的相互了解和文化交流。
