Spring Health: Follow nature, reconcile the liver and spleen, and build a Great wall of health together

In spring, all things are revived and vibrant, and nature proclaims the cycle and transformation of life in its own unique way. In this gorgeous season, our bodies are given new life and challenges. The ancient saying goes, "In spring, it is appropriate to reduce acid and increase glycine to maintain your temper." These words, from Sun Simian, a medicinal king, are brief but profound, and reveal the wisdom and mysteries of spring nursing.

Sun Simian, a famous medical scholar of the Tang Dynasty, is still revered by his descendants as a rule of thumb to this day. In his view, spring is the season when liver qi is raised. Sour foods enter the liver, and excessive consumption will encourage liver qi, while excessive liver qi will inhibit the spleen, affecting the digestive function of the spleen and stomach. Therefore, the spring day diet should be mainly filled with sweet flavors. Sweet flavors enter the spleen, which can enhance the temper, promote the functional function of the spleen and stomach, enabling the body to absorb more nutrients, and lay a solid foundation for the health of the year.

Huang Yuanyu, a famous doctor in Weifang who was once the imperial physician of Qianlong, in his book The Origin of the Four Sages and the Heart, further elaborated the natural law of the rise and fall of liver qi and the relationship between liver, spleen and kidney. He pointed out: "The water is kept hidden in winter, and when the spring wind stirs, the sun rises from the earth, and business begins to grow." This phrase depicts an image of spring when the sun is beginning to grow and everything is beginning. At the same time, he also emphasized the strong connection between liver gas production and spleen soil and kidney water. Only when the water and soil are mild can the liver gland develop smoothly, and the atmosphere is calm and calm. Conversely, if the water is cold and the earth is wet, the liver spirit cannot rise smoothly, leading to a depressed and windy nature, which in turn affects the overall health of the body.

So how can we eat well, sleep early, and exercise more in springtime to protect the liver and promote the co-prosperity and symbiosis between liverwood, kidney water, and spleen earth?

Liang Shijie's research team believes that first, the diet should follow the principle of "saving acid and increasing glycan." Reducing the intake of sour foods, such as lemons, hawthorns, etc., instead eat more sweet foods, like red dates, yams, honey, etc. These foods can not only supplement the temper, but also promote the smooth rise of liver energy, so that the body reaches a state of balance and harmony.

Second, make sure you get enough sleep. In spring, the nights are short and the days are long, and people tend to feel sleepy and tired. Therefore, try to go to bed early and get up early to ensure adequate sleep time. Sleep is a crucial moment for body repair and regeneration. Good sleep quality not only improves the body's immunity, but also promotes the smooth rise of liver energy, making people feel full of spirit and vitality the next day.

Finally, do more outdoor activities. Spring is a good time for outdoor activities. Whether it's walking, jogging or mild exercises such as yoga, it can promote the body's circulation and metabolism and enhance the body' resistance. At the same time, outdoor activities can also make people feel happy and relaxed, helping to alleviate the mood swings and anxiety that are common in spring.

For example, a person who focuses on spring health care will choose light and sweet foods in their diet, such as a hot bowl of yam porridge in the morning, which can both warm the stomach and rejuvenate the temper. In the evening, you may choose a bowl of red date and silver ear soup, which will both moisturize the skin and help you sleep. When it comes to sports, he would spend weekends with his family going out to the countryside to see the flowers, breathe the fresh air and feel the charm of nature. Such a lifestyle not only makes his body healthier, but also allows his mind to be nourished and relaxed.

In short, spring healing is a science and an art. It requires us to follow natural laws, reconcile the relationship between the liver and spleen, and pay attention to many aspects of management such as diet, sleep and exercise. Only in this way can we build a solid Great Wall of Health in spring, a vibrant season, and lay a solid foundation for health throughout the year. Let us welcome every spring with a heart that fears nature and loves life!
