It’s not the same organization that put up the “loyalty never fades away” statue. Trading Doncic was wild, but there are ways it could have worked if the return package was right (seems preposterous but the Herschel Walker trade was too, and that’s mythologized in Dallas). What makes no sense, and what totally lost me, was management spending the two weeks following the trade denouncing and bad mouthing Doncic when all signs pointed to him being ride or die for the organization, and whose popularity with other players finally made Dallas competitive at pulling free agents.
